Frequently Asked Questions

Starting support can feel like a big step and it's natural to have questions. Our FAQ section is designed to provide clarity and address any concerns you might have about our services, the therapy process or mental health support in general. If you are looking for more specific information, feel welcome to reach out.

What is a psychologist?

A psychologist is a registered professional with extensive education, training and supervision, dedicated to understanding and supporting mental health, behaviour and overall wellbeing. Psychologists must complete a four year undergraduate degree in psychology, followed by two years of postgraduate study or supervised practice. A psychologist's practice is regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Psychology Board of Australia (PsycBA), ensuring they uphold high standards in qualifications, ethics and practice.

Psychologists focus on mental health assessments, counselling and therapeutic interventions. Unlike medical doctors, a psychologist cannot prescribe medication. They work alongside their clients to foster mental health and resilience.

How do I book an appointment?

Before we schedule an appointment together, we would like you to participate in a free and confidential 15-minute phone consultation to better understand your therapy needs and goals. This will help ensure the feel good project is the right fit for you.

Booking an appointment is easy—simply click one of our "Book Now" buttons to select a date and time that works for you. You can also call, email, or complete our online enquiry form, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Do I need a referral?

While we accept referrals from a range of sources, you do not need a referral to see us.

What are the costs involved?

We hold the view that therapy is an investment in yourself. At the feel good project we charge less than the recommended rate for psychology services as recommended by the Australian Psychological Society.

With a valid referral from a GP, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist, you can receive a rebate of $96.65 from Medicare, for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year.

Can I claim private health fund rebates?

Most private health funds offer rebates for psychology – please contact your insurer to determine the dollar amount of which you are able to obtain a rebate.
